Hilton HHonors Surpasses 25 Million Members

Hilton HHonors, the loyalty program for Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of hotel brands, announced today that it has surpassed a record 25 million members. This record number of member enrollments was recently reached with the help of the more than 2 million new members who joined the HHonors program in 2009 – the largest enrollment year in the program’s history. Additionally, Hilton HHonors enrollment during January and February 2010 increased more than 19 and 18 percent, respectively, over 2009 enrollment levels. These are the highest enrollment levels for the program during the months of January and February within the last five years.

Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of brands was honored across multiple categories in the Business Travel News 2010 U.S. Hotel Chain Survey. In the results that were announced yesterday, Hampton Hotels was honored as the best hotel brand in the Midprice Tier and won an unprecedented 11 of 12 categories out of the individual criterion segments. Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn were recognized among the top five brands of the Upscale/Select Service Tier and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts ranked third in the Deluxe (Luxury) Tier, also winning four of the individual criterion segments.

Hilton Worldwide announced today that, building on the record year the company had in terms of development in 2008, the next best year in the company’s 91-year history was 2009. In 2009, despite major challenges for the hospitality industry overall, Hilton Worldwide added 302 new hotels and more than 45,000 rooms to a total count that is now more than 3,500 hotels and 585,000 rooms. In 2008, Hilton Worldwide opened 327 properties.
