Hilton Worldwide’s Hampton Brand Awarded Best Midprice Hotel in Business Travel News Survey

Hilton Worldwide’s portfolio of brands was honored across multiple categories in the Business Travel News 2010 U.S. Hotel Chain Survey. In the results that were announced yesterday, Hampton Hotels was honored as the best hotel brand in the Midprice Tier and won an unprecedented 11 of 12 categories out of the individual criterion segments. Doubletree, Embassy Suites and Hilton Garden Inn were recognized among the top five brands of the Upscale/Select Service Tier and Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts ranked third in the Deluxe (Luxury) Tier, also winning four of the individual criterion segments.

Doubletree by Hilton Expands Latin America Portfolio in Mexico

Hilton Worldwide has announced that it has signed a multi-year management agreement with Consorcio Hotelero S.A. de C.V. for a Doubletree by Hilton full-service hotel in Mexico. Construction of the Doubletree by Hilton, Merida is expected to begin this month with a scheduled completion in March 2011. This latest announcement reinforces the continued growth of Hilton Worldwide in the region, and the further development success of the upscale, full-service Doubletree by Hilton brand across Latin America.

A newly released Hilton Garden Inn survey conducted by Opinion Research Corp. * revealed that when booking a hotel for a “big day”, the majority of Americans surveyed value a comfortable bed just as much as they do like a good hotel rate. More than three fourths of Americans (80 percent) consider the best value for the rate most important, followed by 76 percent who think a comfortable bed is the most important amenity to consider when booking a room.

Brienza joins Hilton Worldwide from Johnson & Johnson, where she gained more than 20 years of experience, most recently as Vice President, Human Resources, Change, Communication & Education. In that role, she spearheaded the development of the company’s global service delivery model and the overall improvement of their talent management processes. Brienza also led the human resources change management for Johnson & Johnson’s integration of the Pfizer Consumer Healthcare business, the largest acquisition in Johnson & Johnson’s 120-year history. In 2009, despite major challenges for the hospitality industry overall, Hilton Worldwide added 302 new hotels and more than 45,000 rooms to a total count that is now more than 3,500 hotels and 585,000 rooms. In 2008, Hilton Worldwide opened 327 properties.

Home2 Suites by Hilton, the mid-tier, extended-stay hotel chain targeting value-wise business and leisure travelers, today announced the groundbreaking of its first hotel, the 119-room Home2 Suites by Hilton Fayetteville, N.C. The hotel is being developed by Alabama-based LBA Properties, a group of companies providing comprehensive hotel development and management services, on behalf of Apple Real Estate Investment Trust Companies (Apple REIT Companies). The hotel is expected to open in the 2010 fourth quarter.
