Students must then propose and defend an action plan. Participants include SHA undergraduate and graduate students as well as students from Cornell's College of Engineering, Dyson School for Applied Economics and Management, and ILR School."It is not always easy to know the right and ethical decision to make in a multifaceted, multicultural business setting. We need to give students the tools to make these decisions and also provide them with the opportunity to practice their skills," said Stephen Hall, a 1956 graduate of the SHA. The competition, organized by the Center for Real Estate and Finance at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration, will be held at the TIAA-CREF headquarters in New York City. "In just four years, the Cornell International Real Estate Case Competition has grown to be the largest such competition in the world. The caliber of the teams—their analyses, presentations, and professionalism—gets better every year, and we now have student teams from five different countries," said competition organizer Daniel Quan, Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Professor in Asian Hospitality Management at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. Five days before the presentations, the teams will receive information regarding a real estate case that is based on an actual transaction. In that five-day period, the six-member student teams must analyze and make recommendations on the case. They will present their conclusions before a panel of judges who are distinguished real estate professionals. After a preliminary presentation round, three remaining finalist teams will present their case solution to the full panel of judges.
